One of our passions is changing lives, and that is what behavior work is all about. Alex has cried many tears of joy — and a few sad ones — providing this service.

We love helping families with unwanted behaviors, whether it is barking, jumping on people or pulling on leash, all the way through to resource guarding, fear and aggression. Alex has worked with behavior issues in his community alongside animal shelters, rescues and individuals for many years, and absolutely loves the challenge.

He also works with other dog trainers who run into a difficult case — as a consultant, or by shadowing them in their classes. With love, experience and continuing education, we live to help with any sensitive issue you may have.

What we treat

Canine behavior & aggression modification

This is an intensive treatment approach included in all of our packages. Many facilities will not house dogs with behavior problems — but if you are in a behavior modification program with us, or have used our services to rehabilitate your dog, they have a home here.

We have had a very successful behavior program thanks to the continuing education available in our field and to sheer experience. Every case is different and is handled as such. Pets receive customized treatment to replace undesirable behaviors with more desirable ones, based on our professional assessments.

There is no doubt that Alex and his company iDog Academy is the best dog boarding and training service in Miami and quite possibly Florida. They know their stuff!!! We couldn't be happier with the experience we had at iDog Academy with Alex and his incredible team of trainers. Our dog stayed for three weeks of boarding and training, and the level of professionalism, care, and communication exceeded every expectation. One of the things that stood out most was the constant updates and video footage they sent throughout our dog's stay. Being away from your dog for that long can be difficult, but Alex and his team made it so much easier by regularly sharing videos, training progress, and updates. We had a fantastic experience with both the boarding and training program. Alex did an outstanding job with Ollie and took the time to help us understand how to reinforce the training at home. The improvement in behavior was noticeable right away, and it was clear that the training was tailored to our dog's needs. Frequently asked questions

What training methods do you use?

Positive reinforcement, clicker training, model rival (mirror) training and L.I.M.A. — least intrusive, minimally aversive. We do not use shock collars or other aversive tools. Our methods are science-backed and taught to every team member personally by Alex.

How does the process start?

We build a profile for your family, then schedule a private lesson where we run an ASPCA SAFER assessment plus temperament and drive evaluations. From there we recommend the program that actually fits your dog and your goals, and build a customized plan around it.

How long does board and train take?

Most dogs are with us for two to four weeks depending on their starting point and your goals. Behavior cases often need longer. Your assessment determines the recommended length before you commit to anything.

Do you pick up and drop off?

Yes. We collect your dog from your home and drive them directly to our facility in Miami, then bring them back when the program ends. Add pick-up to any booking.
